Student Sponsorship
HTSPE has recently reached agreement with the NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar in Pakistan to sponsor at least two students from their Institute of Development Studies.
MoU
This will partly involve providing financial assistance to support research work at PhD and MSc level but we also anticipate that the students will be involved with the work of our Pakistan Regional Office - both in marketing and project implementation. For example, Senior officials from the local government of the Federal Administered Tribal Areas in North West Pakistan have expressed interest in the students making a contribution to the capacity building work HTSPE is doing there under our current ADB funded project.

2007
Kaainat Salam is a student of B.Sc (Hons) of Department of Rural Development of Agriculture University Peshawar, NWFP. Her goal is to be a team member of rural development projects in Pakistan using her skills and interest in development for poor people living in rural areas. Her father is a heart patient so he is unable to work and to afford the expenditure of the family and her studies. HTSPE awarded her the second scholarship based on merit and a need basis. She has a good education background. After getting the scholarship, she performed excellent, achieving top positions in two semesters.
2006
Mr. Zahid Hussain won the first scholarship from HTSPE in 2006 after the signing of the MoU with NWFP Agricultural Univeristy, Peshwar. He comes from rural Peshawar. He is a very talented student. His father is an X-Ray technician and could not support Zahid to continue his higher studies due to financial constraints. HTSPE’s award allowed Mr. Zahid to continue his education, studying for a B.Sc (Hons) in Agriculture from Institute of Development Studies, NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar.
